Benevolence Farm
ben·ev·o·lence  1. Disposition to do good  2. An act of kindness  3. A generous gift  (Merriam-Webster)

In 2009 alone 3,750 women were released from five North Carolina Department of Correction prison facilities.

We will provide a transitional living program for up to 12 women leaving North Carolina prisons. Our intention is to make the program as inclusive as possible, for instance, without restrictions as to a criminal record. Once the program is established, we will pre-screen women who are currently incarcerated at any North Carolina prison. There will be a six month minimum commitment required to enter the program. There will be no cost to enter the program. Residents will earn income through their work on the farm and part of this will be paid to Benevolence Farm for room, board, and program fees; the other part will be divided between an individual savings account and a spending account. We will post additional information and details about how to apply once the program is fully established.
