A first-of-its-kind tiny home community for and by formerly incarcerated women and gender expansive people
In 2019, Deb, a former resident, came to us with a proposal. She had just spent 27 years in prison. She loved living in the shared farmhouse at Benevolence Farm, and she was afraid of the day she would leave it for a neighborhood that did not welcome her. What she asked from us was simple: a place to practice living independently with supportive neighbors.
Thanks to Deb and dozens of alumni who have co-designed this project, Benevolence Farm is building seven tiny homes, where our community members can practice managing a single household with a safety net of supportive peers around them.
